20 Minutes on a tour of the plant with the syrup master

Many don't know that Coca‑Cola Switzerland produces directly at home: 20 Minutes, the leading Swiss newspaper visited our Dietlikon plant already before the COVID-19 outbreak to take a tour of our production plant with our Plant Manager, Adrian Fritz. One of the topics was the well-kept secret around Coca‑Cola's syrup. Manoel Scherrer, the syrup master at Coca‑Cola HBC Switzerland, shows 20 Minutes readers how the various ingredients are mixed in the “secret kitchen”. The famous Coca‑Cola beverage must pass several quality tests before it can be filled into bottles: “Each syrup produced at our plant must first be degusted. This way we ensure that the quality is always the same”, so Manoel.

Swiss made since 1936

We've operated in Switzerland since 1936 and produce practically all of the products we sell here locally: in Dietlikon or Vals. Coca‑Cola Switzerland makes a significant contribution to local economy this way and creates jobs.

There is more Switzerland in Coca‑Cola than you think. There is more Switzerland in Coca‑Cola than you think.

Whenever a Coca‑Cola beverage is sold in Switzerland, not only our approximately 700 employees will benefit but also the Swiss economy: eight out of ten of the products sold in Switzerland are being produced here in Switzerland. 95% of the ingredients used are being sourced from Swiss suppliers including, for example, drinking and mineral water, carbon dioxide and sugar. The sugar stems from domestic sugar beets produced by Swiss farmers.

With our local activity, Coca‑Cola is contributing to the value creation of 988 million francs for the Swiss economy. At the same time, we are creating roughly 8,600 further jobs, for example in gastronomy, retail, logistics, industry or agriculture.
