In collaboration with Coca‑Cola and with the support of the Swiss Federal Office for the Environment, the Swiss Foundation for Practical Environmental Protection – PUSCH – launched an experiential water exhibition aimed at raising visitors’ awareness about the conscious consumption of water.

Water is one of our planet’s most important natural resources – and the most valuable commodity for Coca‑Cola. As the leading global company in the drinks industry, Coca‑Cola has set itself the aim of assuming a leading position in the field of environmental management. In collaboration with Coca‑Cola and with the support of the Swiss Federal Office for the Environment, PUSCH launched the interactive touring exhibition ‘Water – everything clear!’

In six fun experiments, the exhibition teaches visitors the fundamental facts about the role of water in society, and highlights how they can take simple steps to reduce their personal water consumption. The exhibition is targeted at communities and schools, and will be open to visitors from April 2010.

One of the exhibition’s experiments shows how Coca‑Cola collects scarcely polluted rinse water and uses it in a second stage of use to clean floors and plant equipment. Through this measure alone, Coca‑Cola saves up to five percent of the overall volume of water it consumes.

Through a rigorous water management system, a sustainable quality and environmental policy and long-term engagement, Coca‑Cola is assuming responsibility for the careful consumption of water. Thanks to ongoing optimisation of its Swiss bottling plants (Brüttisellen, Bolligen and Vals), Coca‑Cola HBC Switzerland AG has been able to cut its water consumption by a quarter since 2001. At an international level, Coca‑Cola is active in over 120 water conservation projects which have received over 24 million Swiss francs in investment to protect freshwater resources. Here, one of the distinguished project partners is the WWF.
